DC Socket Repair For Laptops17-power-jack-soldered

One of the most common faults on a laptop is a broken DC Jack Socket. Sometimes the power cable gets  pulled  which  can break  the solder connections to the motherboard or the centre pin itself, or over time the solder joints can crack due to normal wear & tear. To repair this problem involves completely dismantling the laptop, desoldering the broken socket and soldering on a new one. Some computer repair shops will tell you you need a new motherboard and quote you a three figure sum. We can carry out this repair for £65 which includes the new socket and 3 month warranty.

Laptop Screen Faults 569e

If your laptop screen is dark but you can see a very faint image, the most likely problem is your inverter which supplies power to the backlight has failed. This does not require replacement of the screen and costs roughly £50 - £75.

If your screen shows lines, dots or garbled images it could be the screen itself, the screen cable or a fault with the motherboard.

If the screen is visibly cracked or broken then replacement is required. Prices vary according to model but, as an example, a 15.4" screen replacement usually costs about £90 - £125. Sometimes it is possible to find secondhand screens that have been removed from faulty laptops if a new screen is too expensive.
